“Person who can get pregnant” works better than person with a uterus. I’m infertile, while I fight for abortion rights because I had one and I believe in them, it’s not personal anymore. Having a uterus doesn’t automatically mean you have a dog in the fight.
More specifically abortion affects those who:
- can get pregnant,
- want to get pregnant, and
- don’t want to get pregnant.
The first two because even if you want a child things can happen, the third is self-evident. Being infertile doesn’t automatically take one out of the fight, if one is trying to get pregnant despite that.
Continually framing abortion rights as a woman’s issue *even when referring to cis women* ignores all of the women who are past their childbearing years and may have more pressing political agendas to address their health needs. So I’m not a fan of uterus based language at all basically.
I wish you weren’t anon because this is brilliant.
